True Gaming Song of the Week – October 26, 2008

Posted in Hyrule Hillbilly with tags , , , , , , on October 27, 2008 by hyrulehillbilly

Hello all its time for another Song of the Week sorry about last week not having one you can blame that one on me Whitney. This weeks choice comes from Hyrule Hillbilly and it goes along with the theme of Halloween being right around the corner. The game he has chosen from is Super Castlevania IV on the SNES. It is one of the best Castlevania games to ever come out with some of the best whip controls in the whole series. The other shining part of the game is the music composed by Sotaro Tojima who also worked on Circle of the Moon another game in the Castlevania series as well as Metal Gear Solid 2.  The song Hyrule Hillbilly has selected is the Theme of Simon Belmont.

True Gaming Song of the Week – September 7, 2008

Posted in Hyrule Hillbilly with tags , , , , , , , , on September 7, 2008 by hyrulehillbilly

Hey everyone its time for another song of the week chosen by Hyrule Hillbilly. The game this weeks song comes from is Onimusha Warlords the first game in the Onimusha series. Onimusha had a mix of great action, puzzle solving, and little horror to make a awesome combination. Capcom the company that made the game has always been known for quality and Onimusha showed off there brillance once again. The soundtrack for Onimusha was composed by Mamoru Samuragoch who did a brillant Orchestral soundtrack that is just as memorable as the game itself. Unforuntatly Samuragoch is only credited with this games soundtrack and not much information is out there about him. The song of the week is the first song you here in Onimusha the Intro song or Rising Sun 1st Movement.

High Speed Walkthrough – Barbie

Greetings to all in VG Land.

This week we find out what 12 inch plastic dolls dream of. Shopping mall disasters, mermaid adventures, soda shop countertops, and inside a jukebox. All which seem to be rites of pssages to her dream wedding with Ken.

Though many gamers seem to initally pan this one, it seamed mildly enjoyible for me. (whew! it took everything out of me to say something like that.) However I just dont like the anoying sound she makes everytime she jumps.

Hope you enjoyed the ride.

High Speed Walkthrough – Bandai Baseball: Legends of the Diamond

Posted in Hyrule Hillbilly with tags , , , , , , , , on August 3, 2008 by hyrulehillbilly

If I post it they will come.

Greetings to all in VG Land. This week we enter a relm where all of America’s greatest baseball legends’ paths through space and time collide. Baseball historians and fans alike have often wondered how the stars of past eras would fare against each other on the field. Unfortunately this game falls flat in it’s tracks and they will just have to keep dreaming. The mismatched preformance of each player (the Babe couldnt even get a fly ball to deep out field and then a lesser known player knocks one out of the park) together with the unresponsive fieding controlls and generic music is what brings down what couldv’e been a truly remarkible experiennce. Though there are some features that are mildly good. Such as batter character sprites matching the legend’s apppearance. It’s quite short for a baseball title. The player only needs to win four in a row to complete it. Cant wait for Bases Loaded with it’s full season of 100+ games to play.

Ayway, I hope you enjoy the ride.

True Gaming Song of the Week – July 27, 2008

Posted in Hyrule Hillbilly with tags , , , , , , , on July 29, 2008 by hyrulehillbilly

It is time for another Song of the Week and this time its another pick from hyrulehillbilly. The song he has chosen is from one of the greatest video games to ever come out Final Fantasy VI. FF6 is easily one of the best rpgs of all time especially before the 3d era began in gaming. The sprite work of the game is just stunning for the time of its relase. Not many people appreciate the detail that went into each character sprite and the amount of animation each character had. The story was well truely epic and is one of the few times where the bad guy actually succeded in his plan. Kefka destroyed the rules and gained godlike power is the process throwing the entire world into chaos.

The soundtrack was composed by Nobuo Uematsu who is responsible for all of the Final Fantasy soundtracks up until Final Fantasy 10 but worked on almost all games with Final Fantasy in the title.  His music is so beloved many tribute conserts and albums have been relased over the years. Uematsu still composes music for video games as well as works with his rock band the Black Mages who preform mainly remixes of Final Fantasy music. The song of the week for this week is the theme of Kefka.

High Speed Walkthrough – Banana

Greetings to all in VG Land!

Today we have a rare game. A very rare game. So rare that there is no photo of any kind of box or carteidge cover. (Yeah Google let me down on that one.)

I’ve been told that it looks like a combination of Boulder Dash and Adventures of Lolo though this predates Lolo about 2 years. If you like puzzlers, its worth checking into.

I added some tracks which were randomly selected from my vgm library for part 3 and on. The game was just so long and the looping sounds got tiresome.

Part I

Part II

Part III

Part IV

Part V

Hoped you enjoied the ride!
