We’ve finally reached the end. It took me longer than I thought it would but I got through Super Mario RPG. In this part I head into Bowser’s Keep and overcome numerous (easy and fun) challenges to reach the top of the castle. At the top I fight Exor, the giant sword that pierced the castle in the beginning of the game. He goes down somewhat quick and sucks me in to Smithy’s world where he is making his weapons. Once there I head back to Mario’s world and pick up a couple things then head back to Smithy’s and make my way to his factory.

Along the way I take out several enemies including remade versions (much weaker) of previous enemies and bosses. I also take out Count Down (alarm clock from hell) and Cloaker and Domino (wannabe terrible duo). With them out of the way I head into Smithy’s Factory and take out his workers before fighting him in the final showdown.

Smithy is a lengthy fight but it’s not hard, especially at my level. His first form goes down rather quick and then the real fight begins. I’ve never gotten as many freebies with Rock Candy as I did in this run. It wouldn’t have mattered if I got them or not but it did make things go a little faster. Smithy eventually goes down and we get to see a great ending. I hope you enjoyed my playthrough of Super Mario RPG. I know it’s been done a thousand + times over but I wanted to do it anyway. I’ll be back soon with my next Two-Tailed Playthrough. What it is…. you’ll have to wait and see.

Two-Tailed Playthrough – Super Mario RPG Part 6 “The Royal Treatment”

Hey everyone I’m back and it’s time for another update. I’m so sorry for the lack of updates recently, a lot has happened and I didh’t have time to do the videos. But that’s all settled and I will be updating on a regular schedule from now on. Now, on with the show.

In this part I start in Nimbus Land and investigate what’s going on. It’s obvious that fat bird wasn’t the real Prince so I need to get into the castle and expose the fakes. To do that I need the help of the sculptor, Garro. He does what he does best and makes Mario look like a statue and ‘delivers’ me into the castle. From there I work my way to the throne room, avoiding being pecked by an angry Dodo and beating Birdo along the way. I eventually find the palace workers held up in a small room completely unaware of what’s going on. The guard gives me the Master Key and I enter the throne room.

In the throne room I find Valentina who runs shortly after seeing me. Naturally I give chase and eventually catch her and do battle. She goes down fast and I get the key to the King’s room where Mallow’s parents are. After a short reunion I do a bit of backtracking and finish up in Melody Bay and grab a Red Essence from the Forest Maze, then head into the Volcano. The Volcano is a pretty short area and I make my way to the Czar Dragon pretty fast and take him down just as fast. With that the sixth star is just about in my hands but is snatched up by the Axem Rangers. The Axem Rangers are a goofy bunch but they’re all show as I chase them down and take my star back.

With them down all tha’ts left is to head for Bowser’s Keep and get the last star. But first I need to take care of one last thing, the toughest fight in the game, Culex. Culex is a boss based on Final Fantasy and comes from an imaginary world. He is easily the toughest boss in the game as you usually need to be around level 25 to beat him. He has four crystals with him that each use different attacks that are extremely strong, and massive attack power himself. After a very long fight I manage to take him down and get the Quartz Charm, one of the strongest accessories in the game.

Hey everyone it’s time for another update. In this part I leave Seaside Town and head for Monstro Town, a town inhabited by reformed monsters. To get there I have to travel through Land’s End, the end of the world. It’s not a long journey and I wind up going through Belome’s Temple and fighting Belome again. Belome is just as easy as he was before and goes down just as fast. With him out of the way I can finally get to Monstro Town. There are a few things I need to do here, like get the Temple Key so I can enter the treasure room in Belome’s Temple. I do that by talking to a Thwomp and making him jump, causing the key to fall. Once that’s done I start a game of Find the Flag with the Three Musty Fears, then challenge Jinx’s Dojo. Jinx is hard. Very hard. It’s a very long fight but I eventually beat him and get the Jinx Belt, a great accessory. With him done I quickly play the Find the Flag game, then head on to Land’s End to get to Bean Valley. Bean Valley is small and at the end is a giant pirana plant called Smilax that is beefed up by a Shy Away. He goes down fast and then I finally reach Nimbus Land.

Two-Tailed Playthrough – Super Mario RPG Part 4 “Sink and Walk”

Hey everyone sorry for the delay in getting this part up. Had some issues with my mic and emulator but I got it sorted out and was able to get the next part done. In this part I crash Booster’s wedding and rescue the princess (for the 6th time now), then fight the angry cooks and their cake. They made a mean cake (no pun intended) but it goes down easy and we can finally leave. I take the princess back to her kindom and we tell the Chancellor about all that’s happened. The princess has to sneak out of the castle to join me again but when she does she’s mine for good (or until Bowser captures her again, but that’s another game). So it’s off to Tadpole Pond to ask Frogfucius about the whereabouts of the next star.

He tells us he heard of a Star falling on Star Hill, the place where wishes are granted. So I head there and get the only star in the game I don’t have to fight for. If only they were all this easy. With that star in hand I proceed onward to Seaside town. The town looks peaceful but you can just tell something is wrong. The elder seems like he was waiting for me and asks me to get him the star that fell into the Sea. So I head into the Sea where I do a nifty level up trick to get me a few fast levels, then proceed into my favorite area of the game, the Sunken Ship. The ship was attacked by a giant squid (go figure) and sunk into the ocean. The crew managed to trap the squid in the treasure hold but they lost the treasure because of that. I eventually fight said squid and defeat it, then go further in and fight Johnny Jones for the Star. Johnny is a tough cookie (not really) but he goes down easy and gives me the star and his friendship (yay?).When I head back to town I find the Elder and his followers waiting for me. He reveals himself as Yaridovich, one of Smithy’s followers (did anyone not suspect that?) and demands the Star. Fearing he’ll do something to the townsfolk (not really, just wanted to save time) I hand over the star only to chase after him and fight him for it. Yaridovich and his cronies are waiting for their ship, which is late, and when they see me they decide to swim for it. Before they can jump in the sea Johnny and a couple of his crew members jump out and stop him.

Johnny is none too happy about them stealing the star he gave to his mate and is ready to clobber him. I’m all for letting him kill Yaridovich but his crew members stop him, telling him I should do it. So Yaridovich and his cronies combine and transform into (Voltron! No I’m lying) a giant… thing and the battle begins. He’s not too hard but it’s a little lengthy but I take him down in the end. With him defeated I get the star back and the key to the shed where the real villagers were being held. After freeing everyone I can make use of the shops.

Two-Tailed Playthrough – Super Mario RPG Part 1 “Not Again!”

Posted in Tailz64 with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on July 1, 2008 by tailz64

Hey everyone tonight I bring you my next Two-Tailed Playthrough, Super Mario RPG! I am doing something new with this RPG and that is doing it in hour long parts. I will still post two ten minute parts per day on Youtube but if you want to see more of the run and faster, be sure to check this page.

In this first part we meet our hero, Mario, again, and find that Bowser has kidnapped the princess for the 5th time now. So once again Mario has to rescue her. I head for his castle and storm it and after a short fight defeat Bowser. Then the real fun starts. A sword splits the sky and crashes down into Bowser’s castle sending everyone flying. Mario lands in his house and quickly heads back to the castle to rescue the princess. Once there he doesn’t even get inside because the giant sword tells him the castle is now under the control of the Smithy Gang and destroys the bridge to the castle. With no way to enter the castle Mario returns to his house to tell Toad the news.

Toad is shocked to hear the castle is unreachable and tells us we need to tell the Chancellor of Mushroom Kingdom at once. So I head through Mushroom Way, which is now crawling with monsters. Toad gets captured a couple times and I free him each time, and at the end of the path run into a pair of Hammer Bros. Toad apparently ran into them and they got angry and caught him. After another quick fight Toad is rescued and I pick up a hammer they left behind, Mario’s first weapon. With hammer in hand it’s off to Mushroom Kingdom. Mushroom Kingdom is a happy, peaceful place full of happy Toads. I rush into the castle and tell the Chancellor the news, and he tells me I must get the princess back no matter what the cost. So I head out to find a way to get her back, but not before taking the treasures from the castle cellar.

Upon exiting the castle I witness a crocodile being chased by a “frog”. The Croc stole the “frog”‘s coin and the “frog” couldn’t catch him. So I agree to help him out, thus getting my first partner, Mallow. Mallow has strong magic that will help me out on my journey. We chase the Croc down Mushroom Way and eventually corner him, then kick the crap out of him. He gives back the coin and a wallet then takes off. Happy that he got his coin back Mallow and I head back to Mushroom Kingdom to do what Mallow wanted to do with his coin, trade it to the shopkeeper for something for his Grandfather. Sadly we find Mushroom Kingdom is overrun by Shyguys on Pogosticks, who are led by a big knife named Mack. I take Mack down and pick up my first Star Piece, then head for Tadpole pond through Kero Sewers to talk with Mallow’s Grandfather about the Star Piece and what to do next.

I get a little confused in the Kero Sewers but I make it through and after beating Belome, a weird creature in the sewers, I head down Midas River and finally make it to Tadpole Pond.

I will also upload 11 minute parts to Youtube as usual. Can find the links here:
