Hey everyone welcome to another Two-Tailed Playthrough! This time I bring to you Earthworm Jim for the SNES. Earthworm Jim is a run and gun platformer with some of the wackiest antics you will ever see in a video game. It’s chock full of great graphics, music, and gameplay. Made back in 1994 for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis Earthworm Jim was subsequently ported to the SNES, Game Boy, Game Gear, Master System, and when it came out, the Gameboy Advance. The game is utter greatness with the only downfall being it’s length. The game is too short and as such I get through it in under an hour.

The game throws you right into the action without mentioning the story. The story is just as comical as the game. Earthworm Jim was a normal earthworm living his life on Earth. One day while trying to avoid becoming a crow’s dinner a super, ultra-high-tech, indestructable space suit fell from the sky right on top of Jim’s worm hole. When Jim crawled out of his hole and into the suit the suit recognized him and bonded to him, giving him complete control of the suit and all it’s awesome powers. Thus Earthworm Jim was born. The suit fell from the sky because it was stolen from the Evil Queen by Snott, a Booper being. Snott was attacked by Psycrow, the Evil Queen’s henchman and his ship was destroyed, sending the suit plummeting to Earth. Now that Jim has it Psycrow will stop at nothing to get it back. Jim overhears Psycrow telling the Evil Queen that he suspects the suit fell to Earth and will begin looking for it. Hearing this Jim flees to New Junk City where the biggest adventure of his life begins.

Two-Tailed Playthrough – Super Mario RPG Part 7 “The Kindom is Saved… For the Moment.”

We’ve finally reached the end. It took me longer than I thought it would but I got through Super Mario RPG. In this part I head into Bowser’s Keep and overcome numerous (easy and fun) challenges to reach the top of the castle. At the top I fight Exor, the giant sword that pierced the castle in the beginning of the game. He goes down somewhat quick and sucks me in to Smithy’s world where he is making his weapons. Once there I head back to Mario’s world and pick up a couple things then head back to Smithy’s and make my way to his factory.

Along the way I take out several enemies including remade versions (much weaker) of previous enemies and bosses. I also take out Count Down (alarm clock from hell) and Cloaker and Domino (wannabe terrible duo). With them out of the way I head into Smithy’s Factory and take out his workers before fighting him in the final showdown.

Smithy is a lengthy fight but it’s not hard, especially at my level. His first form goes down rather quick and then the real fight begins. I’ve never gotten as many freebies with Rock Candy as I did in this run. It wouldn’t have mattered if I got them or not but it did make things go a little faster. Smithy eventually goes down and we get to see a great ending. I hope you enjoyed my playthrough of Super Mario RPG. I know it’s been done a thousand + times over but I wanted to do it anyway. I’ll be back soon with my next Two-Tailed Playthrough. What it is…. you’ll have to wait and see.

Two-Tailed Playthrough – Super Mario RPG Part 6 “The Royal Treatment”

Hey everyone I’m back and it’s time for another update. I’m so sorry for the lack of updates recently, a lot has happened and I didh’t have time to do the videos. But that’s all settled and I will be updating on a regular schedule from now on. Now, on with the show.

In this part I start in Nimbus Land and investigate what’s going on. It’s obvious that fat bird wasn’t the real Prince so I need to get into the castle and expose the fakes. To do that I need the help of the sculptor, Garro. He does what he does best and makes Mario look like a statue and ‘delivers’ me into the castle. From there I work my way to the throne room, avoiding being pecked by an angry Dodo and beating Birdo along the way. I eventually find the palace workers held up in a small room completely unaware of what’s going on. The guard gives me the Master Key and I enter the throne room.

In the throne room I find Valentina who runs shortly after seeing me. Naturally I give chase and eventually catch her and do battle. She goes down fast and I get the key to the King’s room where Mallow’s parents are. After a short reunion I do a bit of backtracking and finish up in Melody Bay and grab a Red Essence from the Forest Maze, then head into the Volcano. The Volcano is a pretty short area and I make my way to the Czar Dragon pretty fast and take him down just as fast. With that the sixth star is just about in my hands but is snatched up by the Axem Rangers. The Axem Rangers are a goofy bunch but they’re all show as I chase them down and take my star back.

With them down all tha’ts left is to head for Bowser’s Keep and get the last star. But first I need to take care of one last thing, the toughest fight in the game, Culex. Culex is a boss based on Final Fantasy and comes from an imaginary world. He is easily the toughest boss in the game as you usually need to be around level 25 to beat him. He has four crystals with him that each use different attacks that are extremely strong, and massive attack power himself. After a very long fight I manage to take him down and get the Quartz Charm, one of the strongest accessories in the game.

Hey everyone it’s time for another update. In this part I leave Seaside Town and head for Monstro Town, a town inhabited by reformed monsters. To get there I have to travel through Land’s End, the end of the world. It’s not a long journey and I wind up going through Belome’s Temple and fighting Belome again. Belome is just as easy as he was before and goes down just as fast. With him out of the way I can finally get to Monstro Town. There are a few things I need to do here, like get the Temple Key so I can enter the treasure room in Belome’s Temple. I do that by talking to a Thwomp and making him jump, causing the key to fall. Once that’s done I start a game of Find the Flag with the Three Musty Fears, then challenge Jinx’s Dojo. Jinx is hard. Very hard. It’s a very long fight but I eventually beat him and get the Jinx Belt, a great accessory. With him done I quickly play the Find the Flag game, then head on to Land’s End to get to Bean Valley. Bean Valley is small and at the end is a giant pirana plant called Smilax that is beefed up by a Shy Away. He goes down fast and then I finally reach Nimbus Land.

Two-Tailed Playthrough – Super Mario RPG Part 4 “Sink and Walk”

Posted in Tailz64 with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 22, 2008 by tailz64

Hey everyone sorry for the delay in getting this part up. Had some issues with my mic and emulator but I got it sorted out and was able to get the next part done. In this part I crash Booster’s wedding and rescue the princess (for the 6th time now), then fight the angry cooks and their cake. They made a mean cake (no pun intended) but it goes down easy and we can finally leave. I take the princess back to her kindom and we tell the Chancellor about all that’s happened. The princess has to sneak out of the castle to join me again but when she does she’s mine for good (or until Bowser captures her again, but that’s another game). So it’s off to Tadpole Pond to ask Frogfucius about the whereabouts of the next star.

He tells us he heard of a Star falling on Star Hill, the place where wishes are granted. So I head there and get the only star in the game I don’t have to fight for. If only they were all this easy. With that star in hand I proceed onward to Seaside town. The town looks peaceful but you can just tell something is wrong. The elder seems like he was waiting for me and asks me to get him the star that fell into the Sea. So I head into the Sea where I do a nifty level up trick to get me a few fast levels, then proceed into my favorite area of the game, the Sunken Ship. The ship was attacked by a giant squid (go figure) and sunk into the ocean. The crew managed to trap the squid in the treasure hold but they lost the treasure because of that. I eventually fight said squid and defeat it, then go further in and fight Johnny Jones for the Star. Johnny is a tough cookie (not really) but he goes down easy and gives me the star and his friendship (yay?).When I head back to town I find the Elder and his followers waiting for me. He reveals himself as Yaridovich, one of Smithy’s followers (did anyone not suspect that?) and demands the Star. Fearing he’ll do something to the townsfolk (not really, just wanted to save time) I hand over the star only to chase after him and fight him for it. Yaridovich and his cronies are waiting for their ship, which is late, and when they see me they decide to swim for it. Before they can jump in the sea Johnny and a couple of his crew members jump out and stop him.

Johnny is none too happy about them stealing the star he gave to his mate and is ready to clobber him. I’m all for letting him kill Yaridovich but his crew members stop him, telling him I should do it. So Yaridovich and his cronies combine and transform into (Voltron! No I’m lying) a giant… thing and the battle begins. He’s not too hard but it’s a little lengthy but I take him down in the end. With him defeated I get the star back and the key to the shed where the real villagers were being held. After freeing everyone I can make use of the shops.

Two-Tailed Playthrough – Super Mario RPG Part 3 “Old enemies, new allies”

Posted in Tailz64 with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 8, 2008 by tailz64

Hey everyone welcome to part 3. In this part I discover the calamity of Moleville is two children and an adult are stuck in the mine. No one can get into the mine so it’s up to me to rescue everyone since Mario is the only one who can jump high enough to get in. So I make my way through the mine and run into Croco again, who steals all my coins and takes off. When I finally catch him I fight him again and when he’s down I get my coins back and a bomb, which is needed to go deeper into the mine to where the kids are. I find the missing adult, the kids’ father, waiting by a wall that was caved in and we use the bomb to blow it away. Shortly after going through I run into Punchinello, the cause of the cave in and next boss. He also has the third Star Piece.Punchinello goes down after a bit of a fight and his big bomb blows up, covering the party in soot. The Star Piece gives them a shower of sorts and cleans the soot off them. With the third Star Piece in hand I head deeper into the mine and finally find the kids, Dyna and Mite. We all ride back in a minecart and the parents are happy to see their kids alive and well.

With the crisis over I rest at the inn and pick up a few items before heading on to Booster’s Tower. Standing at the entrance to the tower I find Bowser, contemplating his next move. While he thinks we find that Toadstool is stuck on the balcony at the top floor of the tower. Bowser decides to join me by letting me join his Koopa Troop and we make our way through the tower to rescue the Princess. After I reach the top I fight Knife Guy and Grate Guy, who are the toughest bosses so far, even if they don’t seem like it. They go down somewhat fast and the party jumps off the balcony to give chase to Booster who took off with the Princess. Booster runs up Booster Hill and to Marrymore where he plans to marry the Princess.

Two-Tailed Playthrough – Super Mario RPG Part 2 “Stuck in Geno’s Maze”

Posted in Tailz64 with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 4, 2008 by tailz64

Hey everyone it’s time for part two of my Super Mario RPG Playthrough. In this part I get a lot more done and learn the secret behind the star pieces. The first thing I do is talk with Mallow’s Grandfather, Frogfucius, and learn that Toadstool is no longer in Bowser’s Keep. He then tells us some things about Mallow and gives us his first weapon, the Froggiestick. With that he sends us off to Rose Town which is having some problems with mysterious arrows being shot from the forest. These arrows are paralyzing everyone they hit turning them into human statues. While it’s fun to mess with the frozen people I head into the forest after buying some new armor and look for the source of the arrows.

The forest is pretty linear for a while but it soon becomes a maze similar to the lost woods. This is Geno’s Maze. An old man in Rose Town told me some directions to go in this maze to find some hidden treasure, so I do that first then follow Geno through the maze. At the end of the maze we find a bow creature named Bowyer is responsible for all the arrows. He also has a Star Piece. So I take him down after a bit of a fight then claim my second Star Piece. At this point Geno is officially a member of my party and he explains what the Star Pieces really are. With Star Piece in hand I head back to Rose Town and find it a much livelier place than before and everyone is free from the arrows. After a quick rest at the inn I head to my next destination, the Pipe Vault. The Pipe Vault is an optional area that leads to Yo’ster Isle, which I go through to unlock for later. I fiddle around on the island for a bit then head on to Moleville. There seems to be some sort of a problem at Moleville so I pick up some new weapons and armor then start investigating.
